The 2009 Dodge Nitro is offered in three trim versions, the base model SE, mid-level SLT and R/T. The base and SLT versions come powered by 4.0 liter V6 engine that delivers 260 hp at 6000 rpm and torque of 265 lb ft at 4200 rpm, while the up-level version comes equipped with 3.7 liter V6 engine that produces 210 hp of power and 235 lb ft of torque at 4000 rpm. The available transmissions include 4-speed automatic and 5-speed automatic. The mid-sized SUV can achieve fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city premises and 21 mpg on the highway roads. Manual transmission has been discontinued for 2009.
